We're about three weeks in to the new Oakwood Orchestra now and things are really beginning to come together!
Many of our children carry on with their instruments after they have all learned in In2Music in Year 3, and several children also attend after school ensembles such as Ted's percussion group.
Up until now, they didn't really have much chance to play together, but the new orchestra has given them a new opportunity to work as one.
Thanks to Paul Ibbott from Oasis Academy Lord's Hill who is working with them and leading them on to greater things!

Looking good in Oakwood's uniform!
We've sent a quick note home today about school uniform.
It's really great to see most children wearing the correct uniform, and we wanted to remind you that some items weren't allowed.
Here are our House Captains modelling proper uniform!
If you have any questions about what is or isn't allowed, please ask in the office.
This note contains more information about uniform, and what is and isn't allowed.
Thank you for your support!

House Day!
We recently held another successful House Day.
Each of the houses - Arcadia, Aurora, Oceana and Oriana - met together as a team to complete each activity.
In the Year 3 base, the Houses had to work together as a team to solve 3 levels of maths puzzles.
In the Year 4 base, the children got active with a skipping competition!
The Year 5 teachers tested general knowledge skills with a quiz.
If you want to know what the Year 6 base did, be sure to check out what they did with their pens and a few random shapes...!
We all earned lots of House Points, and Arcadia and Oceana were joint winners for the day! More importantly, we had fun and worked brilliantly in our House teams.

Letting our Pens Go Walking!
Letting Our Imaginations do the Talking...
As part of House Morning the Year 6 Team organised an inter house doodle competition. All children were given the same starting marks on a piece of paper and asked to let their imaginations and pens go wild. They could choose whether they want to work independently or together and what implement they used to create their doodle masterpice. Take a look at the impressive results.

First Day Back at School - Oh Yes IT IS!!!
You know the story of Cinderella, right?
Well, everyone had a fantastic treat this afternoon as we were joined by four superb performers from M&M Theatrical Productions who put on an excellent show for us!
There were so many songs and so many characters in the show and it was so fast-moving that it held everyone's full attention and we all joined in! (Oh no we didn't! Oh yes we did! Mr Taylor nearly had to marry Cinderella's wicked step-mother!)
M&M always keep their productions up-to-date with lots of new songs and dances, but in true panto style, the crystal slipper only fitted on Cinderella's foot and they all lived happily ever after!
Thanks to the OSA, whose donations to the school from events such as the Christmas Fair, paid for this exciting show!
