Here are the final performances of our pan-African Lion King dance, our New Zealand Haka and our Christmas Crazy Dance.
Year 4 Biodiversity Survey
Year 4 have completed their survey of the animals in their local habitat - the temperate woodland. They classified the animals they encountered and had fun exploring the woods.

Year 3 Local Area Study
Armed with maps and compasses, Year 3 set off into the woods of Lordswood. We used our equipment to not only locate our route but also North, South, East and West. We also took note of the different land uses surrounding our school. Here are a few pictures:-

LKS2 join Joe Wick for Children in Need PE challenge
LKS2 have joined Joe Wicks this morning for the end of his epic 24hour PE challenge. We have star jumped, kicked and sweated....lots. What a lot of fun. Well done LKS2 and well done Joe.

Y5 Titanic Day
Y5 boarded the Titanic this morning and set sail for their new life in the USA. All the children looked brilliant in their costumes! (Well done mums and dads!) The children completed a range of titanic themed activities and had a great day aboard.
It was a great way to finish off our Titanic Topic!

TikTok Algorithms-Exploring Coding through PE
Year 3 started their new ICT coding unit by exploring algorithms. After watching a video to help us learn what an algorithm is we watched a dance routine and tried to work out what the algorithm was. After we worked it out we went and had a go to see if we could follow the algorithm. We then had a go at creating our own algorithms. Take a look:-
Year 6's Electrical Steady Hand Games
Year 6 had a brilliant DT day yesterday, creating their own electrical steady hand games. They worked so hard on them and should be very proud of their finished games! Please see the photos below to see their fantastic DT work, which is now on display in school.

Year 3 Prehistoric Art-Making Paint.
Year 3 had lots of fun this afternoon trying to create paint of different shades with natural resources. We did some foraging around the school and at home and then tried to use the resources we had collected to see if we could produce some colour. We then had a try at making our own paint with flour, water and a variety of spices. Have a look at how we got on and why not have a go at home yourself?

Year 3 -African tribal Dancing Lesson 1
Year 3 started their African Tribal Dance on Friday. Firstly, they watched and enjoyed a performance We noticed lots of rhythm, strong body movements and isolation performed in unison. We also noticed they performed their motif in lines or circles. Here is a look at our first attempts:-

Y4 Greek Pavillions
Year 5 - Science
We were investigating properties of materials - their permeability and magnetism. As part of this, we had to create our own fair test and discuss our findings.
Year 3 Cave Art-Scaling Up!
As well as scaling up their animal drawings yesterday, Year 3 also experimented using charcoal. Not only were they drawing and blending with charcoal and chalk, they had a lot of fun crushing it up and smudging it with their hands to create that 'cave' effect. Take a look at their efforts:-

Year 3 -This is Us part 2
Our task this week was to write and perform a collaborative poem on the theme of 'This is Us'. We looked at some more poetic devices like onomatopoeia and studied how poets perform their poems using voice and body language. Children worked together to come up with lines for the class poem. Year 5 - Back to School
Year 5 have been very busy over the last two weeks. Lots of our classwork has been based around the Oliver Jeffers book - Here We Are.
Here's a few pictures of some of the things we've been up to.
Science in Year 1 - Seasons
This term Year 1 are learning about different seasons.
Last week, both classes had a lovely walk along Oakwood's beautiful nature trail. They observed the colours of the leaves, the different berries and toadstools growing as well as looking up high to appreciate the huge green canopy overhead.
They also learned about the difference between deciduous trees, that lose their leaves in autumn and evergreens.
Over time Year 1 will be observing and discussing the changes that take place during each season, recording through, drawing, photos and charts.
