Year 5 were transformed into surgeons this afternoon, as we dissected tulips to investigate the reproductive parts of a flower. The children had to very carefully take apart and label all of the elements of the flower and they also discovered the role that each part plays in pollination and fertilisation.

Boys' Test Park 6-A-Side Football Tournament
The school football team played their final matches of the year on Friday afternoon, in the beautiful sunshine at Test Park. It was a last appearance in team colours for a number of players and a final chance to stake a claim for the player of the year awards.
The team got off to a solid start in a tough game against St Mary's - drawing 1-1 having fallen behind. The team's second game was against Bassett Green - Oakwood prevailing 1-0 in a game the team played very well in. The two final group games, against Beechwood and Fairisle B, were both 0-0 draws. This meant that Oakwood finished unbeaten in their group games but only picked up 6 points meaning Oakwood needed either Fairisle B or Beechwood to beat the other in order to progress to the quarter finals. However, they played out a 0-0 draw - eliminating Oakwood from the competition.
Well done to our goal scorers: Tom (1) and Sonny (1) and to our Man of the Match - Fin.

Big Pedal - May the Forth Be With You
Our 'Big Pedal' this year fell on Star Wars day, so we wanted to see how many 'pilots' we could enlist to help destroy the mysterious 'Death-Star' that has appeared in our school.
Over 100 children responded to our call for help, prepared with their helmets. It has been a big success and we hope some children will continue to use this fun and healthy form of travel in the coming months!

Year 1 Alien Invasion
The aliens have landed in Year 1!
Today, we discovered an alien crash site in the playground. We investigated the scene thinking about who the aliens were and where they had come from then used this information to write a diary entry.
Can you spot an alien or two?
2018 Y1 Question of Faith day
We had a Question of Faith day.
We had three guests come in to teach us all about water and Christianity.
We learnt three stories: Jesus walking on water, Jesus getting baptized and Jesus turning water into wine. We had the chance to act these out in groups and share with everyone. We also played true or false with some different facts and they took us outside to play a fun game that worked on our listening skills.
Afterwards, we came inside and drew a picture of how we use water and wrote a sentence about why it is precious. We also had fun making some mosaics on pictures from each of the different stories about Jesus.
