Y5 Electronic excitment

Today in Year 5 we have spent the morning looking at instructions in order to kick-start our instruction writing topic in English. We had the opportunity to look at instructions to learn how to use a device or play a game which we have not played before. We then evaluated how clear and successful the instructions were, and thought about what would change to make them better! Using all the information we have gathered we then identified what features you would find in good instructions and writing our first set of instructions ourselves.

Green fingers in Year 1

Year 1 were very successful at growing cress. They must have green fingers!

The children sprinkled the seeds on damp cotton wool and left them in a bright place to germinate. Within a few days the children were able to see the cress grow.

When it was ready the cress was cut and served on crackers.

It was interesting to find out what they thought as some had never tried it before.

Day 8 in the Chick House

After a weekend holiday to Mrs Rogers' house, the chicks returned to school refreshed and ready for the children.  Seven chicks have successfully hatched and are already developing adult feathers on their wings.  Year 4 have been handling the chicks today and making sure they are clean, watered and fed.

Year 4 Eggciting Times

It is an eggciting time in Year 4 today, as we were greeted this morning by the arrival of four chicks in the incubator.  Currently two more eggs are pipping, so we hope to have some more arrivals by the end of the day.  Keep watching the blog for a chick update.

Y4 School Learning Exhibition

Year 4 brought the spirit of the Funfair to Oakwood this afternoon. Parents and friends had the opportunity to come in and have a peek at all the fabulous work the children have been doing over the last half term.

Thank you to all who came in to visit.
