Year 6 Leavers' Party

Year 1 DT Windmills

Making Windmills! Year 1 have been learning about windmills from the pat and present, including what purpose they had here in the UK throughout the years. We then met ‘Mr Tiddles’, a mouse who was looking to have a windmill designed and built to live in. We listened to his ‘preferences’ and then set about designing the 2D ‘nets’ which would later become the ‘structures’ and ‘turbines’. After assembling our structures we then punctured holes and began to assemble the ‘sails’ of the turbine by connecting them to the ‘axle’. Finally, it was time to test them and evaluate them!

Butterflies

Year 2 have been learning about life cycles and have had some caterpillars to look after. After a few weeks they turned into butterflies and today we were able to release Julie, Julia, Juliette, Julian and Julius Caesar into the wild.
