Year 1's music of the week was ' Carnival of the animals'. We listened to the music discussed the tempo and pitch for each section of the piece of music. We then discussed what the animals might be doing? How they might be doing it? what their bodies look like? This links to our science work as well all about animals.
Our final performances were yesterday and Years 5 and 6 gave us a fantastically Christmassy medley. It was a real showcase of talents, with musicians playing, beautiful modern and traditional songs being sung, a little bit of French and even the odd turkey thrown in!

Years 3 and 4 kicked off our Key Stage 2 Christmas performances on Monday, and what a way to start! Their theme was 'The Christmas Tardis' and they took us on a journey through time and space to learn about Christmas through time.

Year 4 were lucky enough to be able to go to the theatre to watch Cinderella. They loved seeing inside a real theatre and figuring out how everything works. We were amazed by the talented actors who sung, danced and played instruments as well as acting!
Our Year 6 Pupils say their first goodbye to Oakwood, remembering and celebrating some of their favourite events.
A brilliant production, with emotional songs ("When I Grow Up" made Mr Taylor cry!) and excellent acting!
Thank you for entertaining us, and a really big Thank You to all the ex "Mr Taylors" who turned up to reprise their role from previous years! (That made the real Mr Taylor cry as well!)
Over the last week 5BW have been taking part in a Lit Film Fest project, 'Why we play!'. We looked at a variety of poems and poets (including Michael Rosen). We produced our own poems, then we selected the two lines we were most proud of to collaborate with our class mates. Finally we practiced performing our lines in an entertaining way and created a class poem together.

Year 6 have been studying some of the work of William Shakespeare this half term.
We have looked at plays such as: Macbeth, Twelfth Night, a Midsummer Nights dream and Romeo and Juliet.
They have performed lots of scenes from a range of the plays, but none quite so chillingly portrayed as 'The witches' scene from Macbeth.
Year R have treated us to a fantastic first Christmas performance over the past two days.
They told the story of "Whoops-A-Daisy Angel", who keeps getting things wrong - her halo is wonky, her dress is a mess and she is just so clumsy!
However, she ends up with the most important job of all - and does it brilliantly!
On Friday 6th July, most of Oakwood took part in a French Day - to aid their understanding of different cultures and enjoy the opportunity to speak in French.
Year R enjoyed the story of La chenille qui fait des trous - The Hungry Caterpillar, learned to count to 10 and did some French Flag coloured butterflies. Well done Year R!
Year 1 learned the vocabulary for different fruits and did their own art in the style of Henri Matisse. Fantastic art, I'm sure you'll agree!
Year 2 researched the Tour Eiffel and tried building them from art straws and modelling clay. They said it was très difficile!
Years 3 and 4 were given the opportunity to have le petit déjeuner - croissants, pain au chocolat et jus d'orange and Year 4 took part in some role play.
Year 3 were taking the parts of both waiter and customer and they also learned how to play pétanque in their PE lesson.Great fun!
Year 5 watched a video on how to make the perfect croque monsieur and then made their own toasted versions. They also researched Bastille Day and created art in the style of Cezanne. A full on french filled day. Well done Year 5!
Year 6 were busy rehearsing their end of year production, but they managed squeeze in a little role play a la café. Well done to Miss Patchet in her sparkly - J'adore Dior!

This afternoon Year 5 put together some gold book award freeze frames to show their learning of a specific life cycle.
Y6 have been having fun over the last few weeks exploring some of the most famous works of William Shakespeare. Having already studied the comedy, Twelfth Night, they have begun to look into the 'Scottish Play', Macbeth..Shhhhhh.
What better way to begin than to look at the iconic Witches scene. Here is some pictures of their efforts!
Today Year 4 have got into role as Celts. We spent the morning in role as the Celts and found out lots of fascinating facts about their lives in the process! We woke up in our round houses, which we shared with several families before washing ourselves using soap in the river. Once we had got ourselves dressed in our woven fabrics we spent the day grinding grains to make flour; hunting and building fires. After a busy day we learnt all about the religion of the day- including sacrifices!
The amazing M & M Productions visited yesterday and treated the school to Oliver Twist. Super acting, singing and costumes brought the story to life.

Year 6 told a story of intrigue and sabotage for their final performance to Oakwood today.
In a story within a story, as they prepared to put on their production of Grease, their plans were thrown into disarray by a rival local headteacher who hid the vital USB stick!
Without the photos of them when they were younger, how would they make their parents emotional at the show?
Well, as you might expect, all was well (and no-one from Fairisle was harmed during the making of this musical!)

Year 4 started their Aztec topic off this week. Part of their learning was to compose a dance showing the story of a human sacrifice. FYI - No children were harmed during this performance!
Cedar class really enjoyed performing their assembly where they acted out the story of The Jolly Postman or other people's letters by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.
Our Postman scooted around the stage and delivered letters to many characters found in traditional tales which were read out by some of the children.
The children also sung and danced along to a favourite song "Reach for the Stars" by S club 7.
Well done Cedar class!!!
Well done to Elm class who did a fantastic performance in their class assembly. They enjoyed sharing the things that they had learnt in their topic 'Beyond the Sea', they even sung a song called 'Living under the sea' with some lovely dance moves.
The children in Year 1 have designed and made their own shoebox theatre based on a traditional tale of their choice. Once made the children enjoyed performing their show to their friends.
