We have been looking at artists that create watery pieces and focused on Hokusai and Kate Bright. Both of these create wavy art and create texture in different ways. We have experimented using paint and different materials to create texture and then used these to paint our final wavy piece. What do you think?
Our task this week was to write and perform a collaborative poem on the theme of 'This is Us'. We looked at some more poetic devices like onomatopoeia and studied how poets perform their poems using voice and body language. Children worked together to come up with lines for the class poem. Year 3 started their Prehistoric art work yesterday. They began by finding out about the incredible Lascaux's Prehistoric Cave Paintings They noticed the amazing animal drawings and then had a go at observing and sketching some British animals. Have a look:-
We have just begun our Year 2 journey into maths. We have looked at place value, adding, subtracting and reading numbers as words.
Year 5 have been very busy over the last two weeks. Lots of our classwork has been based around the Oliver Jeffers book - Here We Are.

This term Year 1 are learning about different seasons.
Last week, both classes had a lovely walk along Oakwood's beautiful nature trail. They observed the colours of the leaves, the different berries and toadstools growing as well as looking up high to appreciate the huge green canopy overhead.
They also learned about the difference between deciduous trees, that lose their leaves in autumn and evergreens.
Over time Year 1 will be observing and discussing the changes that take place during each season, recording through, drawing, photos and charts.
Inspired by the wonderful poems of poet Joseph Coelho Year 3 wrote their own poems entitled 'This is Me'. They thought about the things that are important to them and what makes them unique. Have a listen:-
Year 4 had fun day today organising exhibits for a museum. We looked at statuettes, house-hold items and artists impressions to think about how the way the Ancient Greeks lived was similar and different to how we live today.
