Christmas Craft Week Day 2

Today Year 3 had lots of fun making 'shrinkies'. We drew our design onto the magical paper and then used the oven in the KS2 kitchen to create the heat that makes them shrink. We had great fun watching them getting smaller right before our eyes.

Christmas Dinner

Once again, we were able to provide all children who wanted it, a free Christmas Dinner.

Thank you to City Catering, and especially Julie and her amazing team in our kitchen for another fabulous feast! The puddings this year were particularly impressive!

Year 5 and 6 Christmas Performance

Our final performances were yesterday and Years 5 and 6 gave us a fantastically Christmassy medley. It was a real showcase of talents, with musicians playing, beautiful modern and traditional songs being sung, a little bit of French and even the odd turkey thrown in!

Thank you Years 5 and 6 for entertaining us so professionally!

Year 3 and 4 Christmas Performance

Years 3 and 4 kicked off our Key Stage 2 Christmas performances on Monday, and what a way to start! Their theme was 'The Christmas Tardis' and they took us on a journey through time and space to learn about Christmas through time.

Thank you Years 3 and 4 for a fabulous show and for sharing lots of your amazing talents!

Year R Nativity Performance

The children in Year R all took part in a Nativity play. They entertained us by their beautiful singing, dancing and story telling and we are really proud of their performance. Well done to everyone involved who supported in organising costumes, props and learning lines to help make it such a success. A real Christmas treat.

Panto Pandemonium!

Years 4 and 6 were our final year groups to entertain us with their Christmas performance yesterday - and what a cracker it was!

The evil witch was trying to take over all the pantos in the land, and make the baddies win. It was up to 5 courageous Oakwood Pupils to save the day by collecting objects from Panto-Land.

All's well that ends well, and good overcame evil.

Another brilliant performance to make us all proud! Well done Years 4 and 6!

Year 3 and Year 5 Christmas is...

Y4 Christmas Music

This is just a little recording made after one lesson. We learned some music notation, including rests, to perform different rhythms together.

Year 3 make Christmas Tree decorations

Christmas with the Aliens!

The aliens have landed at Oakwood!

They came to find out all about humans and learned a very important Christmas story along the way.

Well done Years 1 and 2 for a fantastic performance!

Whoops-A-Daisy Angel!

Year R have treated us to a fantastic first Christmas performance over the past two days.

They told the story of "Whoops-A-Daisy Angel", who keeps getting things wrong - her halo is wonky, her dress is a mess and she is just so clumsy!

However, she ends up with the most important job of all - and does it brilliantly!

Southampton City Mission with Y2

Southampton City Mission came to visit Y2 to explore the Christmas Story and the concept of light. The children explored what they understood by light and different sources of light then made their own "stained glass windows" with pictures from the Christmas Story. Thank you Southampton City Mission for a really fun day.

OSA Christmas Fair

The OSA Christmas Fair was a brilliant community event once again! Of course we want it to be a successful fundraiser (we'll let you know how much we raised soon!), but the most important things was that it was so well attended, and it was a reminder of just how lovely our community of children, parents and staff is. Everyone had a smile on their face! (Spot yourself in the video!)

Thanks to every one of you for the part you played in making it so. Special thanks as usual to the OSA Committee, particularly Gill and Gary, who go out of their way to make sure the whole thing comes together, Julie and Kelly in the kitchen, and to Martyn and the cleaning team for getting everything spick and span again.

(Thank you to Lidl for providing the food!)

A final Christmas Message...

Our Oakwood Christmas always ends with the Christmas Service...

A reminder of the Christmas message for everyone - the school community in the hall in good voice and celebrating together.

The Reverend Chris Knights from Lordshill Church led us in worship.

Have a lovely time.

Christmas Dinner

A big thank you to Mrs Lacey and her amazing team in the kitchen who cooked over 400 Christmas dinners on Thursday!

We had a great time and it tasted delicious!

Thanks to the OSA for the crackers!

Our Christmas Performances

Although Year R completed their Christmas nativity last week, everyone else has still been hard at work this week!

The children in Years 1-6 performed for their parents and friends - here's how they did!

Thanks to parents and friends who raised £1300 for the Southampton Hospital Children's Wards.

Merry Christmas!
