Year 1 Church Visit

On Tuesday, Year 1 went to visit Lordshill Church to learn about why water is 'precious' to Chrisitans and how it is used in Baptism. We were lucky enough to see baby Bella, the doll, being Baptised and to learn about how the special water is blessed and then put into the font on the altar. We then put a little bit of water onto Bella's head and helped to perform a real Baptism! We also had a look at a gown that a baby may wear during their baptism and also the candle that the church gives each baby to keep. We then listened to the story of how Jesus was Baptised by John the Baptist in the River Jordan!

Year 1 Question of Faith Day

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have our ‘Question of Faith Day’ to help us learn all about angels in our R.E topic. We had so much fun learning about the job of angels in the Christmas story. We even got to dress up in costumes and act out the story of Christmas! We played a game where we had to put the Christmas cards together in teams and also collaged some pictures from the nativity story using different pieces of paper and glue. We are definitely experts on angels in Year 1!!

2018 Y1 Question of Faith day

We had a Question of Faith day. We had three guests come in to teach us all about water and Christianity. We learnt three stories: Jesus walking on water, Jesus getting baptized and Jesus turning water into wine. We had the chance to act these out in groups and share with everyone. We also played true or false with some different facts and they took us outside to play a fun game that worked on our listening skills. Afterwards, we came inside and drew a picture of how we use water and wrote a sentence about why it is precious. We also had fun making some mosaics on pictures from each of the different stories about Jesus.

Year R: Question of Faith

Today Year R had some visitors from Southampton City Mission. They came in to teach us a bit more about Christian beliefs and about some bible stories, such as the creation story and the miracles Jesus performed. They gave us some fun activities to do to match these stories and we even got to see some magic.

Thank you Duncan and Richard for paying us a visit, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Festival of Holi

This term the children have learned about the festival of Holi while exploring the concept of "Remembering" and have listened to the story about Prahlad.

A shrine was created so that children have been able to see what is in one.

During the festival many celebrate it by throwing coloured paint so the children had a go at creating their own paint splattered pictures.
