We've been very busy this week learning about the story, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". We've really enjoyed painting symetrical butterfly wings, using our new minibeast cafe and exploring how we can use dance and intruments to retell the story.

Y1 and Y4 Story Share

This morning, Year 1 welcomed Year 4 to the base to share some stories they had written. The Year 1 children read a story called Handa's Surprise then wrote their own version of the story changing the continent the story was set in and the fruits and animals. Thank you for coming to share our stories Year 4, we hope you enjoyed the surprise!


 

Y1 Box Theatres

We used cereal boxes and our DT skills to create box theatres. We had to create a pivot, slider, lever and flap. We based them on the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Maple Class Assembly

Maple Classes assembly had a Superhero theme. The children retold the story of Superworm with actions, shared some of their work they have done over the term, and sang a superhero song.

A fantastic performance, you all spoke clearly and with confidence! Well done.

Year 1 Home Learning Project

Our Year 1 Home Learning Project for Spring 1 was to create a Hat for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. The children have all worked so hard and have done an amazing job!!! Their hat creations are truly remarkable. Take a look ....

Year 1 Question of Faith Day

Year 1 had a fantastic day learning all about changes and some of the stories from the bible.
They took part in many different activities based upon the stories. These included:
 - Magic Tricks
- 'Follow me' game
- Creating a sparkly fish
- Making 'wobbly legs' to retell a story
- Treasure hunt
 - Collages
 - Interactive storytelling
 

Cedar class Assembly

Cedar class really enjoyed performing their assembly where they acted out the story of The Jolly Postman or other people's letters by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.

Our Postman scooted around the stage and delivered letters to many characters found in traditional tales which were read out by some of the children.

The children also sung and danced along to a favourite song "Reach for the Stars" by S club 7.

Year 1 Shoebox Theatres

The children in Year 1 have designed and made their own shoebox theatre based on a traditional tale of their choice. Once made the children enjoyed performing their show to their friends.

Y4 Question of Faith Day - Jesus Miracle Stories

On Friday Year 4 had a wonderful day with Southampton City Mission. The day was titled 'A question of Faith' and involved Matt and his team planning a wealth of fab activities based on Jesus' miracle stories. a The day began with true or false questions then a treasure hunt. The day continued with story telling, drama, blog writing and art. Huge thank you to City Mission and Matt!

Autumnal story telling

Year 4 spent the morning rehearsing an autumnal poem and were able to perform them through story telling. Have a look at how we did!

Cedar Class Assembly

All the children of Cedar Class should be very proud of themselves for performing in their class assembly this afternoon.

The children entertained their audience by acting out the story of Handa's Surprise. Some read riddles about different fruits which had been written in class, while others described the fruits they had tasted. They all describe where they lived in the world and spoke confidently and clearly.

To end the performance the children sang a song about the seven continents with actions!
