This half term Year 4 have been busy experimenting with mono printing. Inspired by our under the sea topic, they created some fantastic prints to illustrate their calendars with.
Y6 pupils have been working hard this half term on their collage skills. They have been working in groups to create a collage of the jungle - having been inspired by the work of Henri Rousseau.
We think they've done a great job...what do you think?

Our final performances were yesterday and Years 5 and 6 gave us a fantastically Christmassy medley. It was a real showcase of talents, with musicians playing, beautiful modern and traditional songs being sung, a little bit of French and even the odd turkey thrown in!
Thank you Years 5 and 6 for entertaining us so professionally!

Years 3 and 4 kicked off our Key Stage 2 Christmas performances on Monday, and what a way to start! Their theme was 'The Christmas Tardis' and they took us on a journey through time and space to learn about Christmas through time.
Thank you Years 3 and 4 for a fabulous show and for sharing lots of your amazing talents!

We've had quite a lot of wet lunch times recently, but a small group of Y6 pupils have been using their time wisely!
They have been working hard to create a Ferris Wheel out of K'nex. It measures 76cm tall! They have inspired others to try their hand at something - there's quite a few other things being made too now.
All of the money has been counted, and we are now in a position to be able to announce that our Christmas Fair raised an astounding £4533!
Thank you all so much for your generosity, and more importantly, we hope you enjoyed what was another great Oakwood Family evening.
We had an amazing time last week making Christmas cards that light up!
Year 4 were lucky enough to be able to go to the theatre to watch Cinderella. They loved seeing inside a real theatre and figuring out how everything works. We were amazed by the talented actors who sung, danced and played instruments as well as acting!

Here is the Advent book for today...One Snowy Night by Christina Butler
The children in Year R all took part in a Nativity play. They entertained us by their beautiful singing, dancing and story telling and we are really proud of their performance. Well done to everyone involved who supported in organising costumes, props and learning lines to help make it such a success. A real Christmas treat.

Inspired by 'The Sea' by James Reeves, the children in Year 4 wrote, memorised and performed their own poems based on the wind.

A little later than planned (few technical issues!) but still just as good!
This year, at Oakwood, we will once again be having an Advent of books in the countdown to Christmas. Each day at school we will be sharing a Christmas/Winter themed book (or part of a longer book) with all of our children. On Saturday and Sunday we will also be sharing books via video here on our blog and through our Twitter feed.
As well as providing the children with an exciting opportunity to share a book everyday with their teachers and friends, they will help children reflect on a wide range of themes that affect people all over the world during the Christmas holidays.
We will let you know each day what the day's book is and hope that you join in at home to share the joy of reading.
Today's book has no words but is one every adult will be familiar with... The Snowman by Raymond Briggs.
