Year 3 D.T-Pneumatic Monsters
This morning the children participated in a fitness morning to encourage focus, fitness and fun!
For our final art piece this half term, Year 3 was inspired by the Cave of Hands. We had a lot of messy fun creating our own positive and negative hand prints on large material-working together to create our cave art. Take a look:-
We have been looking at propeties of materials in Science this half term, we designed our own experiment to investiagte thermal insulators, looking at which material made the ice melt the slowest. Here are some photos of the fun we had!
In Year 3 we have been learning about forces and magnets, last week we created our own experiment to work out which was the strongest magnet. Have a look at our photos to see what we got up to.
Year 3 have now added a circle element into their dance routine. Take a look at our first practice:-
Year 3 have worked hard to produce and finish their cave art. Take a look at our efforts:-
Year 6 discussed how we kept fit and healthy during lockdown. We used a drama technique based on being a sculpture to show how we did this.
Linked to the text we were reading in the first two weeks of school the children learned all about oil spills and how they are causing such problems to our environment.
We made it ... from having to reschedule the children's bikeablity to year 6, we are extremely proud to say that all the children that took part were superb!!
Well what a day year 6 had last week! They all looked fantastic in their outfits, thank you for all your efforts. Have a look at what they got up to.
Year 3 had lots of fun this afternoon trying to create paint of different shades with natural resources. We did some foraging around the school and at home and then tried to use the resources we had collected to see if we could produce some colour. We then had a try at making our own paint with flour, water and a variety of spices. Have a look at how we got on and why not have a go at home yourself?
Year 3 started their African Tribal Dance on Friday. Firstly, they watched and enjoyed a performance We noticed lots of rhythm, strong body movements and isolation performed in unison. We also noticed they performed their motif in lines or circles. Here is a look at our first attempts:-
In Year 4, we had fun designing our own Wonders of the World. First we used sweets and cocktail sticks to see what shapes were strong and stable enough to stand up. Then we had a go planning our own structure made from lollipops, built to honour one of the Greek gods.
We were investigating properties of materials - their permeability and magnetism. As part of this, we had to create our own fair test and discuss our findings.
As well as scaling up their animal drawings yesterday, Year 3 also experimented using charcoal. Not only were they drawing and blending with charcoal and chalk, they had a lot of fun crushing it up and smudging it with their hands to create that 'cave' effect. Take a look at their efforts:-
