In Geography we have been leaning about our local area. We have been leanring to identify features as either 'human' (man-made) or 'physical' (natural) and label accordingly. We really enjoyed going on a walk through the Lordswood area and saw lots of great features that we could later add to our maps!
Today Year 2 had a really fun DT day. We were given the job to design and make a model of a ferris wheel. First we had to learn all about wheels and axles in order to get our model to work. We really enjoyed thinking about the design criteria, creating our designs and then working as a team to build a model of what our wheel might look like. Do you like our designs and models? All of our wheels worked in the end.
Last week the whole school took part in a 'Intra House Basektball competition'. The idea was to get as many baskets for your house as possible, working as a team. It was great fun and the weather wasn't to bad either. Thanks to all the children who took part for their house, Testlands coaches and the teachers and teaching assistants.

In Year 2 we have been learning about keeping healthy. First we looked at exercise and being active and then we moved on to thinking about a healthy diet. We learned a healthy diet is a balanced diet. We explored food packaging and the traffic lights on different items and then we helped design a balanced meal for Lola after reading the story 'I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato'.
Our DT this half term has been making a chair for Baby Bear. We have learned about stability, strength and stiffness. We have tested strength and stability in various ways before going ahead a making our chairs. We then tested and evaluated our models based on the design criteria.
