Sports Day 2017

What a day Sports Day 2017 was!

KS2 had their Sports Day activities first thing in the morning and completed all of their 13 sporting activities, earning points for their house at every station.
Year 3 did well at their first 'House Relays' whilst years 5/6 (now experts in Sports Day) led with way with some very close and exciting races.

Year group Sprint Champions were crowned and new records were set in the Y4 boys 60m and both the boys and girls 80m in Y6. So well done, Ethan, Marcus an Amy!

Our KS1 activities didn't go quite so smoothly - the rain hampering our Sports Day spirit. We did try and go for as long as we could, but eventually we were beaten by the weather. We did, however, manage to complete 8 out of the 10 different activities. KS1 Sprint Champion races will be run on a date TBA.

Well done to everyone who represented their house but this years winners are....Azura!!

Y6 Inter House Benchball

There were a few tired Y6s after their production last night, but they still had enough energy this morning to complete the final round of the Inter House Sports Cup.

All Y6 children took part, and represented their house for the final time. Benchball was the game and determination was the key. 3 of the 4 school house had a chance to claim the cup with victory today, but it was Ventura who triumphed in Y6.

All results from the year will now be collated and the winners announced in the final celebration assembly of the year.

Inter House Cup - Year 5

Year 5 completed the 7th round of the Inter-House Sports Cup this morning. Despite the Chilly July weather children went head to head in a hi-5 netball tournament.

Azura picked up 7 points from their three games making them champions of the round. Britannia were 2nd and, Sports Day winners Adonia, were 3rd, with Ventura in 4th.

There is only one more event to go, the Y6 Benchball tournament and things couldn't be tighter in the race for the cup!

This morning saw the second event in this years Inter-House sports cup, the Y4 5-a-side football competition.

House Captain Voting

Article 12 of the UNICEF Rights of the Child Charter, which is one of our focus articles on our Whole School Charter, says that we all have a right to say what we think and be listened to.

Well, we certainly got a chance to do that today!

Every pupil in the school had a chance to vote for their House Captain for 2014 - 2015. The role of House Captain is very prestigious and the chosen pupils will be expected to be exemplary role models. Everyone who voted has had to think carefully about their decision and vote for the person who they think will represent their house the best.

After a rigorous application process, which included writing application forms and preparing and presenting speeches to the school, our Year 6 House Captain Candidates will be nervously awaiting the results of today's election.

We will be announcing the winner next Wednesday - watch this space for the results!
