What a sports Day we had! Stunning weather, a morning full of fun and a sports day with KS1 and KS2 was a definite winning combination. Congratulations to all of our wonderful Oakwood Pupils who took part, and especially to the winning house 'Adonia'!

Luckily it wasn't raining and the sun was shining for our sprint races!
It was a close call for some of our runners but they did really well and we're cheered on by their friends.

Despite the horrendous weather over the weekend and through Monday, we held out and made a late decision about Sports Day. The Sun dance I completed on the field worked its magic and Sports Day went ahead as planned!
Our now familiar carousel of activities got underway for KS2 in the early morning sunshine and was completed with great enthusiasm for nearly 2 hours. Whilst the sun came and went as it pleased, the children continued to show their Sports Day skills with the house relay races and the Year group Sprint Champion races finishing off the morning in style.
Although a picnic lunch was enjoyed by all, it was soon time to get back to work!
In the afternoon KS1 and Yr R completed their roundabout of activities, again showing all their sporting prowess in a range of activities. The KS1 Sprint champion races finishing off the day, watched by parents and the rest of the school.
In: 4th Place was 2014 winners' Britannia (548points) ; 3rd place - last years winners' Adonia (568 points); 2nd place Azura (579 points) and in 1st place
Ventura!! (614 points)

Oakwood were pushed all the way by Newlands Primary, but managed to claim first place by jut 80 points! Well done everyone!
Although they didn't count towards the overall classifications, there was also a series of sprint races held to finish the morning off.
Oakwood's
Y2 runners finished 2nd and 3rd.
Y4 runners both came 1st.
Y6 runner both came 1st.
What a brilliant day, well done everyone!

Wednesday saw all of the children from KS2 attend the TRYathlon event at the Outdoor Sports Centre.
Children had a go at a whole range of activities from xbobs and ringos on the ski slope to rounders and dodgeball. All of the children had a brilliant time and will no doubt sleep well tonight!

Today saw the very first Oakwood Primary School Sports Day. All of our 420(ish) children: sprinted, skipped, jumped, threw, tugged and caterpillared* their way in pursuit of our prestigious Sports Day trophy.
(*made up word)
The weather was truly glorious and the teamwork and determination on show by all children made watching a great pleasure, even the parents were on their best behaviour!
All of the children had a great time representing their houses and the overall lead for the day changed on at least a dozen occasions. It was a great competition and everybody: children, teachers and parents alike embraced the friendly but competitive atmosphere.
Winners of the raffle were announced, but if you didn't managed to collect your prize please contact the school office.
Well done to all those children in the winning house, Britannia, who racked up a massive 565 points!
Winners medals for the Sprint champions will be presented in school during the next week. KS1 will be presented during celebration assembly on Friday. Whilst KS2 have their celebration assembly on Tuesday next week. Medals for members of the winning house will be presented to children in classes on Tuesday.
Many thanks to the Oasis Academy Sports Leaders! We couldn't have done it without you!
We hoped you enjoyed the day, and welcome any feedback on the parent's Sports Day questionnaire.
