Groundforce Move-a-Thon!

We had a fantastic day completing our non-stop 15 minutes of activity for our Groundforce Move-a-Thon. Thank you to everyone who managed to collect sponsorship money - all of this will go towards our plans for improving our school grounds!

A big thank you to TMC who supported us with the day and made it lots of fun!

Year 5's World Book Day Word Art

On World Book Day, Year 5 were inspired to create a piece of Word Art, based on their favourite book. Have a look at the gallery below - the children were very proud of what they created!

Reading Dens in Y2

For World Book Day Year 2 created "Reading Dens" to enjoy with their friends and soft toys.

After reading "The Book with No Pictures" the children then designed their own page in the style of the author.

Jude's Ice- Cream Flavour Testing

Year 5 have had a great time yesterday afternoon taste testing flavours for their Jude's Challenge. Yummy!!

Year 5 visit Jude's Ice Cream

Last week Year 5 were very lucky to visit Jude's Ice Cream factory in Twyford. We received a talk from Jude and her husband about how they started the business and then had a tour around the factory. We are now working hard on our Jude's challenge, creating a new flavour of ice cream. Jude will be visiting Oakwood in a couple of weeks to judge which idea she thinks is best. Watch out for more Jude's updates!

Oakwood 3 -1 Tanners Brook

The school football season got back underway this week as Oakwood travelled to Tanners Brook Primary school. Although it wasn't the double header that we'd hoped for, the team picked up where they'd left off in early November.

Team Oakwood looked solid in defence and were dangerous in attack, taking two chances in the first half to make it 2-0 before half time. A number of new players made their Oakwood debuts in the second half and all did well on their first outing in green and white. Tanners Brook provided more of a challenge second half but another well taken goal put Oakwood 3-0 up before a Tanners Brook consolation goal just before the end made the final score Oakwood 3-1 Tanners Brook.

3D Hexapod Art

To link with our Pandora writing, last term we made 3D hexapod creatures out of wire and then wrapped them in wool.

Year 6 Shakespeare

Year 6 have been studying some of the work of William Shakespeare this half term.

We have looked at plays such as: Macbeth, Twelfth Night, a Midsummer Nights dream and Romeo and Juliet.

They have performed lots of scenes from a range of the plays, but none quite so chillingly portrayed as 'The witches' scene from Macbeth.

Year 6 Science

Year six children have been learning about the body this half term. As part of their studies they have been looking at the functions of the circulatory system. To help them understand how the lungs work, they made their own model of them using a few simple household items!
