Knapp House: Day 3

It looks like the weather here in Devon has turned! It's been reasonably dry since we arrived on Monday morning but with a few showers it's been quite cold. However, since lunchtime, the sun has been shining!

We've had another great day and its been filled with mud, water and fun. We hope you enjoy our pictures.

Oak House Day 2

We managed to dodge the rain. We went to Testlands Hub and took part in fun activities including: dodgeball, indoor rounders, penalty shootout and badminton.

Knapp House: Day 2

There were a few blurry eyes this morning at the breakfast table after a ....delayed start to the first night's sleep! But there was no time for a rest today! It was Climbing/abseiling, Ringo rides, Canoe Drill and initiative exercises and peddle cart races today.

The children are enjoying their free time (and the tuck shop) and have been spending time with new friends from other schools and making the most of the reasonable weather and the fantastic site here at Knapp House.

It's another action packed day tomorrow!

Oak House at Woodmill

Today Oak House visited Woodmill activity centre. We got to test our skills at archery, the climbing wall and canoeing.

Knapp House: Day 1

The journey down to Knapp House couldn’t have been better: no traffic and not too warm. Once the children had settled into their rooms and had a tour of the site, they jumped straight into the activities. Depending on their groups, the children completed either crate stack and tunnelling or tree hoist and tree traverse for their afternoon activity. After the evening meal (Pasta Bolognese, hot dogs, ratatouille, salad and chips) all of Oakwood’s groups made the short walk down to Appledore Quay for a spot of crab fishing and RIB rides.

It’s been a long day but the children have had a great start to their week. Can’t wait for tomorrow!

Mexico comes to Y4

Year 4 finished a fantastic week learning about Mexico with a Mexico day. We learnt about a contemporary Mexican artist Curiot, made God's eyes, cooked chilli and flat breads and of course had the chance to taste our cookery!

Year R Trip to Hilliers

On Tuesday, Year R went on their first ever school trip to Hilliers.

We learned lots about different minibeasts and their habitats to kick off our topic this half term.

We all had a fab day, despite a little bit of rain in the afternoon. We would like to give all of our parent helpers a massive thank you for coming or we wouldn't have been able to go!

Check out all of the fun activities that we did!

Y6 Launch Make 5 Grow projects

Having spent the final week of last half term researching and prepping their business plans to pitch on the last day of last half term, they finally launched their new business ventures today.

There was all sorts to be bought from the 13 business with a steady stream of customers during both lunchtime and after school. If you missed them today then don't worry, they'll be back out trying to seal the deal of the day tomorrow too.

Y6 A question of Faith

Year 6 were visited this morning by the Southampton City Mission who came to work with us on death ceremonies and life transitions. They explored different ideas around death ceremonies including traditional Christian as well as other less orthodox such as those seen in the Guardian of the Galaxy and Thor!

They then explored the idea of transition to Christians and thought about important transitions for themselves - the upcoming move to Y7 being the main focus.

A big thank you to Teresa for spending the morning with us.
