Mrs Whitmarsh's Caterpillar (Butterfly!) diaries
We have butterflies!
The first one emerged yesterday, and today the final three have also come to meet us. It took a while for their wings to dry, and while we were waiting we put some orange segments and some sugar water (in place of nectar) in the net for them to have some food.
I am hoping the weather will be a little warmer and more settled tomorrow so that we can release them. Luckily, I have a few 'butterfly friendly' plants in my garden, so hopefully that will be a good place to let them go.

Mrs Whitmarsh's Caterpillar Diaries - Part 5
There has been movement!
Firstly, as the chrysalides have now hardened, we have moved them, as still attached to the pot lid, into the butterfly habitat (which is a small net container until they are released into the wild).
The strangest thing was that, as they were being moved, two of them started wriggling and bouncing around like they were dancing! I never realised that the changing caterpillars would be so active while they are transforming!
