While on our walk we collecting some natural resources to help us with our maths lesson. When we got back to school we used sticks and stones collected from our walk to help us with our grid multiplication. What a busy morning!

Y4 River Building

As part of of our raging rivers geography topic, Year 4 have had a fantastic afternoon building a river on the playground. We thought about what each layer of our building material represented and finally we poured rain (water) onto our river bed to create our river.

How clear do instructions need to be?

Today in Year 5 we completed an activity in English focusing on giving precise instructions. We had to sit back to back to our partner and make a small Lego model. We then had to describe to them exactly how to make an identical model.

The activity allowed us to identify how specific instructions need to be, to inform our audience and how important prepositions and adverbs are.

Year 3's Giacometti Study-Sculptures.

Incredible Instructions Day

Today Year 5 had an exciting Instructions Day to kick start their writing to inform unit this term. They each brought in an item from home that had instructions. They first familiarized themselves with a partners item using the instructions, whilst doing so they identified features of an instruction text and what made instructions good/ bad as a reader. They then had a go at writing a new set of instructions for an item and then had a go at following each others instructions.

We learnt lots about how to make instructions clear and easy to follow, we are now looking forward to applying this to our writing linked to Space throughout the next few weeks.

Welcome back to school! Year 6 Teambuilding!

Year 6 have welcomed the new year in with a fabulous team building morning. Our challenge - build the tallest tower we can with only newspaper and tape. The catch? It's also got to withstand the wind forces of Mrs. Sansome's fan and Miss Patchett's hair dryer! What fun....also very messy!
