Year 6 Victorian Fayre

Last Friday Year 6 held their annual 'Victorian Fayre'! There was a Victorian sweet treat stall, a tearoom serving delicious homemade cakes, a teddy stall, books and games stall and a wide variety of Victorian street games to play including Roll a penny and Tin can alley. The children also designed and created their own William Morris style coasters to sell. Every element of the fayre is run by the children from baking the cakes and making the sweet treats to designing their stall signs and then running their stall. Well done Year 6 - it was a fabulous afternoon! Thank you to parents who donated cakes and books/games and thank you to everyone who supported the fayre by spending their money!

YR Leaf Man

The children in Year R have really enjoyed the story Leaf Man. They were inspired by the beautiful illustrations and have had a go at creating their own leaf man pictures with the fallen autumn leaves and other natural items that they have found such as sticks, conkers and acorns.

The children had a lot of fun making their pictures. What other pictures could you create?

Year 3 Shadow Puppets

To help us learn about the properties of shadows and the differences between transparent, translucent and opaque materials Year 3 had a little Halloween shadow puppet fun yesterday. Take a look:-

Y6 Music Soundscapes

Year 6 have been working hard in their music lessons to compose a piece of music in groups that they think represents 'the sounds of the factory'. They were shown pictures of various pieces of machinery and had to create a journey of sound around the different machines using repetition and pattern.

They are still building their pieces, but here's a couple of them so far.

Y6 Visit Milestones

Y6 recently visited Milestones Museum to visit their 'Life during the Victorian Times' streets.

The children explored the various types of businesses that might have been found in towns and cities across the country. During a workshop they explored the geography needed for certain industries and how the railways and rivers helped Britain boom during the Industrial Revolution.

During their second workshop, children were taught by their 'Board School' teacher in a range of subjects. She also emphasised the social expectations of children.

Year's inky art!

Inspired by the Illustrations in The Green Ship, Year 4 had a go at creating their own watercolour and ink illustrations.
