Year 3 Local Area Study
Armed with maps and compasses, Year 3 set off into the woods of Lordswood. We used our equipment to not only locate our route but also North, South, East and West. We also took note of the different land uses surrounding our school. Here are a few pictures:-

Elm Class Coding
This half term, Year 2 have began their coding journey. They have completed Level 1! They have learned how to give the computer instructions to make objects move around the screen and how to add 'start events' and 'click events'. This means some objects will start to move automatically when they run the program or they will move or disappear when they are clicked on. The children also learned how to change the scene and the objects they wanted to use. It's safe to say, they have really enjoyed learning how to code.

The Lighthouse by Year 3
Year 3 have been working hard on their latest writing journey producing a piece of writing which focused on bringing the setting to life-helping the reader to visualise the scene. We were inspired by this great short film The Lighthouse. After studying great examples, learning some new writing techniques and vocabulary we produced our final pieces. As it is difficult to share our work at the moment, we decided our audience would be our Oakwood community and with that in mind we will be sharing some of our finished work this week on the blog. We hope you enjoy.

Last week Year 6 worked so hard and had great fun with investigating electrical circuits! So much Science chat and discussion - brilliant!
Remembrance Art in Year 2
We have been learning that art is in the eye of the beholder. Drawing should be fun, there is no right or wrong and everyone will do it differently. We chose to all follow the same steps to draw poppies for Remembrance Day. We compared eachothers and all agreed that they all look beautiful. What do you think?
Y5 Titanic Day
Y5 boarded the Titanic this morning and set sail for their new life in the USA. All the children looked brilliant in their costumes! (Well done mums and dads!) The children completed a range of titanic themed activities and had a great day aboard.
It was a great way to finish off our Titanic Topic!
(Ps. Sorry for the late posting!)

TikTok Algorithms-Exploring Coding through PE
Year 3 started their new ICT coding unit by exploring algorithms. After watching a video to help us learn what an algorithm is we watched a dance routine and tried to work out what the algorithm was. After we worked it out we went and had a go to see if we could follow the algorithm. We then had a go at creating our own algorithms. Take a look:-
Year 6's Electrical Steady Hand Games
Year 6 had a brilliant DT day yesterday, creating their own electrical steady hand games. They worked so hard on them and should be very proud of their finished games! Please see the photos below to see their fantastic DT work, which is now on display in school.

Autumn Maths in Elm Class
Elm Class came back to school with a bit of a problem. We were lost in the forest and had to solve a number of maths challenges to unlock the code to the phone with the map on. It really tested all of our maths skills and knowledge! We had a lot of fun working out each clue to find the 8 digit passcode, we got out of the forest just in time for play time.
