Year 1 Local Walk

This morning Year 1 went on a local walk around Sandpiper Road. The children used a map to follow the route we were taking and help identify the names of the roads. As we were looking at the names of the roads we talked about the different birds they were named after, where the birds could be found and a fun fact about them

Minibeast Mayhem

Year R have been busy learning all about different minibeasts and this afternoon they were really lucky to be visited by Zoolab.
All the children had the opportunity to hold some not so mini minibeasts and learned exactly what made a minibeast. (No bones, in case you weren't sure).
To prove that this was correct, the children also got to hold a snake, which can sometimes be mistaken for one.

Can you name the minibeasts in the photos?

'Once Upon a Time' in Year one...

Year 1 have also been learning about Traditional Tales. We have been reading the story of the Jolly Postman. Do you know any of the Traditional Tale characters that are mentioned in the story?

We have drawn pastel pictures of the characters and discussed what they are like. We have also used 'Dazzle' on the computer to create pictures of the characters.

Our Trip To Manor Farm

Year 1 have been on a trip to Manor Farm to look at how people lived 0ver 100 years ago. Here is the old school they went to. They were only allowed to speak when spoken to and had to sit very still.

Here is the kitchen and the range that they used to heat water, heat up the iron and to cook the dinner.

Here is our range in our Role Play area. The metal iron is really heavy.
