Southampton Champions League Finals

On Friday last week the school football team finally played their last games of the season (3 months after it officially finished).

As winners of the East Winter League, Oakwood progressed to the Champions League Playoffs. It is effectively a small tournament between all the league winners across the city in a winners take all contest.

Oakwood's first game was against Hollybrook, who earlier in the year represented Southampton and Hampshire at the schools' National 6-a-side tournament in Leicester. After giving away an early penalty Oakwood scored an excellent leveler and the score finished 1-1. Oakwood did however lose two players to injury during this game meaning we would have no substitutes for later games.

The deciding game was against St Monica. Although Oakwood played the better football it was St. Monica who came out on top, taking advantage of some Oakwood mistakes and end the end ran out 3-0 winners.

Well done to all the players this season! It has been another excellent year for the Oakwood football team.
