Girls' Test Park 6-A-Side Football Tournament

Team Oakwood were represented on Thursday afternoon by 7 year 5&6 girls at the Girls' Test Park 6-A-Side tournament.

Oakwood were drawn in group B and played games against Townhill, Springhill B and Holy Family. The results were:
Oakwood 1-0 Townhill
Oakwood 4-0 Springhill B
Oakwood 1-0 Holy Family

Oakwood won all three of their group games so qualified top of their group for the quarter finals where the team met Bitterne Park, Oakwood winning 2-0.

The semi-final saw Oakwood take on Springhill's A side which the team won 1-0.

With horrible weather, Oakwood took to the pitch for the final against Ludlow Junior School. In a game with quite a few chances it was Oakwood who took the lead and looked on course for a 6th consecutive clean sheet when Ludlow equalised with just 4 seconds remaining of the game - taking the game to penalties.

Mia scored Oakwood's first penalty, with Ludlow hitting their over the bar. Both second penalty takers scored their strikes, which meant Oakwood's 3rd converted penalty secured the win and a second City competition win for the girls' football team this year.

Goal scorers: Mia (7), Praise (2) and Angel (1). Player of the Day was top scorer Mia. Well done Team Oakwood.

Y6 Cooking

Some people say that cooking is relaxing...clearly they haven't made 60 pizzas at the same time!

On Wednesday morning, Y6 had a cook along live session with chefs Ackland, Patchett and Whitmarsh and made their own individual pizzas. With a simple recipe and a thousand ways to personalise Y6 had a great morning....But not quite as much fun as they had in the afternoon when they ate all their hard work!

Having made their pizzas, the children have also completed work in both English and and maths lessons with pizza as their inspiration.

A great day in Y6.

Jude's Ice-Cream Sale

Year 3 Trip to Fairthorne Manor April 2018

Year 3 visited Fairthorne Manor on a fantastic one night residential trip. The weather was amazing and the bright sunshine helped us to enjoy the many outdoor activities even more. Children thoroughly enjoyed whizzing down the zip line over the river, climbing as high as they could up the 30ft tower and working as a team on the low ropes course. Roasting marshmallows and singing songs before bedtime topped off a wonderful first day. What a great trip!
