Y5 Bikeability
Year 5 have had a busy week this week: alongside preparing for their Jude's business pitches for Jude's visit next week they have been busy taking part in bikeability training. The children have been learning how to safely ride a bike- including many children learning how to be safe on the roads when cycling. Thanks to the bikeability team for some great training!

Y3 Trip to Local Library
Last week, both classes walked to the Lordshill Library and were able to borrow three books to get them started on a lifetime of access to free books. How exciting!

Dr. Bike
We would like to say a big thank-you to our Bike It Officer Stuart Williams for single-handedly repairing dozens of bikes ready for the Big Pedal. Participation is already high and we want to keep encouraging children to ride to school during the Big Pedal and beyond.
Bike Security
On Thursday, local PCSO Jacob Curran visited the school to remind everyone of what they can do to prevent bike theft and help recovery.
1. Keep your bike locked and inside when possible.
2. Record the serial number located on the bike near the pedals.
3. Register your bike with immobilise.com
4. Take a photo of your bike, clearly showing anything that makes it stand out.
Green Cross Code
Here are the children from the Oakwood "Travel Team" Committee, reciting the Green Cross Code. We did it so that all children in school can learn it too!

Hampshire Indoor Athletics Competition
Having won the Southampton Indoor Athletics competition in November, Team Oakwood went to the Hampshire event yesterday to compete against 15 other local area winners.
It was the first time Oakwood had competed at Hampshire level events for a number of years, so it was a new experience for the whole team. The level of competition was higher than the Southampton events and several of the events had changed too, so Team Oakwood had to raise their game to do well.
The team performed brilliantly throughout the afternoon and picked up some great results across a range of events. They finished a very credible 9th place, just a few points behind 8th and 7th.
Pictures were hard to come by but we did manage a couple of the sprint races as well as a video.

KS1 Personal Best Day
Today year R, 1 and 2 enjoyed a session with TMC who organised another fun personal best day for everyone. The theme was co-ordination. On each station the children had the opportunity to be challenged and score points for each challenge that they completed.
