Southampton City Cup: Semi-Final

Team Oakwood played Abbotswood in their Southampton Schools' City Cup Semi-Final tonight and produced a brilliant second half performance to ensure Oakwood reached the final for the 5th time in the last 6 years!

Oakwood began the game brightly and showed great energy in closing down the Abbotswood players; making sure they had no time on the ball. It was Oakwood who first tested the opposition's 'keeper and it was Oakwood who took the lead when Alan hit a crisp strike from outside the area.

Within seconds of the second half kicking-off Oakwood were 2-0 up as a deflected cross was put into his own net by an Abbotswood defender. Defending City Cup champions, Oakwood, continued to dominate, and following some neat play by Leo, Jenson was able to slide the ball in to the bottom corner. With the away team on the ropes and looking forward to the final whistle the ball fell kindly for Leo to smash home and cap-off a fantastic Oakwood performance.

The final score was Oakwood 4-0 Abbotswood. Scorers Alan (1), Jenson (1), Leo (1) og (1)
Man of the Match, Leo.
