Green Fingers in Year R

We have been learning all about how things grow this half term and have done lots of planting. Have a look at our Mr Greenheads and our Beanstalks. We are loving seeing their progress being logged on Tapestry.

Y4 Mexico Day

To kick start our week learning all about Mexico, Year 4 have had a Mexico hook day. We spent the morning preparing food for our afternoon fiesta. Whilst some of us were cooking, we learnt about Curiot (a Mexican street artist) and created our own creatures based on his work. During the afternoon we found out all about the modern day Maya people as well as sampling our delicious food!

Year 2 Personal Best

This morning, Year 2 had their personal best session with the coaches. The children did a carousel of activities using a variety of PE skills. They had a great time and worked really hard! Well done Year 2.

As part of our topic "The Secret Garden" the children in Year 2 created flower petals out of willow. Then working as a team the petals were then brought together to create flowers.

Y1 and Y4 Home learning Share

Year 1 and 4 have had a lovely afternoon sharing their home learning projects with each other. They have produced some fantastic work which really enjoyed sharing with each other.

Y1 Oakwood Action Teams: Gardening

The Year 1 half of the Oakwood Action Team involved in improving the schools environment pulled their gardening gloves up and got digging in the garden area between Year 1 and Year 2. The children had to clear away any weeds, dead leaves and pull out some huge rocks! After the area was prepped we got digging and planting some different vegetables and fruits. We had sugar snap peas, spring onions, tomatoes and strawberries. We hope that if we look after them well they will grow and we can eat them!

Elm Class visit Lordshill Library

On Tuesday, the sun was shining and Elm Class walked to Lordshill Library. The children had a great time listening to stories, exploring the wide selection of books and choosing a book to borrow. The children have been given time in class to read and enjoy their new library books. Thank you to all our parent helpers for joining us. We had a brilliant afternoon.

Year 5 Dissect Flowers

Year 5 were transformed into surgeons this afternoon, as we dissected tulips to investigate the reproductive parts of a flower. The children had to very carefully take apart and label all of the elements of the flower and they also discovered the role that each part plays in pollination and fertilisation.

We think they did brilliantly. Have a look through the gallery to see their fantastic work.

Eating Well in Year 3!

Year 3 would like to say a big thank you to Ita, who visited us last week from Quorn to talk to us about Healthy Eating and the Eat Well Healthy Plate!

We had a great time learning about how you can have a balanced diet and we impressed her with our knowledge of different foods and ingredients.

We were also joined by Chris from Southampton City Catering, who produce our wonderful school meals.

We would like to say a big Thank You to all of them!
