Hockey League Week 2

The two school hockey teams took part in week two of their schools' hockey league in the miserable weather on Tuesday afternoon.

The 'B' team were on pitch first, taking on Bitterne. It was a close game; as the two evenly matched teams neutralised each others attacking threat early on. But Oakwood did finally make the breakthrough - Sam sweeping the ball into the net. It stayed 1-0 for the rest of game, but it did take a goal line clearance from Paolo in the dying seconds to ensure Oakwood 'B' made it 2 wins out of 2.

Team 'A' were on second and also took on Bitterne, however they played Bitterne's 'Blades' team. Oakwood started brightly and controlled the game throughout. Taking the early lead with a breakaway goal for Jola after good work through the middle of the pitch by Reece. Oakwood continued to improve as the game went on, scoring 7 times in total. Daniel (3), Jola (2), Rhys (1) and an own goal.

Well done to players of the week Daniel and Paolo.

Both teams still have a number of games to play so will endeavour to play them over the next two weeks.

Keep it up Team Oakwood!
