Christmas Dinner!

Thank you to all at City Catering, and especially Julie our Head Cook, for a fabulous Christmas Dinner today. As usual, the children enjoyed pulling crackers donated by the OSA, and a proper festive lunch, sprouts and all!

Panto Pandemonium!

Years 4 and 6 were our final year groups to entertain us with their Christmas performance yesterday - and what a cracker it was!

The evil witch was trying to take over all the pantos in the land, and make the baddies win. It was up to 5 courageous Oakwood Pupils to save the day by collecting objects from Panto-Land.

All's well that ends well, and good overcame evil.

Another brilliant performance to make us all proud! Well done Years 4 and 6!

Year 3 and Year 5 Christmas is...

The Late Wise Man

Years 3 and 5 treated us to two magnificent performances yesterday.

They told the story of the fourth Wise Man, Artaban, who was always late for everything!

Luckily, this meant that he was able to help lots of people along the way.

As well as amazing singing from the choir, brilliant acting and slick technical support, we also heard some delightful solos and some of our musicians performed for us too.

Well done, Years 3 and 5!

Y4 Christmas Music

This is just a little recording made after one lesson. We learned some music notation, including rests, to perform different rhythms together.

Y1 Box Theatres

We used cereal boxes and our DT skills to create box theatres. We had to create a pivot, slider, lever and flap. We based them on the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Y1 Paddington Day

Y1 had a Paddington day to celebrate the end of this terms toys topic. We learnt all about Peru and Paddington's journey from Peru to London. We also made some delcious marmalade sandwiches to enjoy whilst we watched Paddington 2.

Christmas with the Aliens!

The aliens have landed at Oakwood!

They came to find out all about humans and learned a very important Christmas story along the way.

Well done Years 1 and 2 for a fantastic performance!

Whoops-A-Daisy Angel!

Year R have treated us to a fantastic first Christmas performance over the past two days.

They told the story of "Whoops-A-Daisy Angel", who keeps getting things wrong - her halo is wonky, her dress is a mess and she is just so clumsy!

However, she ends up with the most important job of all - and does it brilliantly!

Year 3 Scientists Cornflake Iron Hunt

Southampton City Mission with Y2

Southampton City Mission came to visit Y2 to explore the Christmas Story and the concept of light. The children explored what they understood by light and different sources of light then made their own "stained glass windows" with pictures from the Christmas Story. Thank you Southampton City Mission for a really fun day.

Y4 Green Ship Art

This term in English Year 4 have been busy learning the Green Ship. Inspired by Quentin Blake's story we wrote our own ship stories, and use watercolour and ink to create illustrations to go with them.

Music on the Map Concert

Year 3 performed in their very fist Music on the Map Concert today. They wowed us with their time keeping, rhythm and musicality as they played their instruments live and as a whole orchestra. Well done Year 3!
