Yesterday after school children stayed to participate in a fun and friendly event with Newlands Primary School.
Oakwood hosted the event and our fantastic sports leaders organised the different stations for the children to work through.
The assault course included balancing, throwing, aiming and even crawling through a tunnel.
Well done to all the children who took part.

Today was week two of the Schools' Hockey League. Both Oakwood teams had another two games to play and were hopeful for good results. The sunshine made the 15 minute games very hard work but Team Oakwood gave it their all.
The 'A' team followed up last weeks wins with a 4-0 victory over Bitterne Primary and despite dominating against Valentine it took a last second goal to salvage a 1-1 draw.
Scorers this week: Nathaniel (3) and Marcus (2). This week's player of the week - Marcus!
The 'B' team battled hard in their first game but lost out to a single goal - going down 0-1 to Ludlow. Oakwood struggled to cope with Valentine's star player in their second match and suffered a 0-3 loss.
This week's player of the week - James.
Both teams have their final group games next week.

Our topic this half term is 'Growing Things' where we are learning all about different types of plants.
In art we have painted our own version of Vincent Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers'. We learned that he uses bright colours and big brush strokes in his art work, so we did the same.
We have also created 3D flowers using cupcake cases and other collage materials. They have really brightened up our classrooms.

Year 5 had a busy afternoon yesterday dissecting flowers. We worked in teams to identify the different parts of the flower having learnt about how flowers reproduce.
The Ice- Cream sale went live last week! Sales went brilliantly with lots of money raised for No Limits (a mental health charity) based in Southampton. Summer Delight was a triumph team, raising just under £300.00. A huge thank you to Jude's for all your help with this wonderful topic!
